Skala Eressos - Lesvos

Eressos is situated on the South Western part of Lesvos island, 90 klm from the capital of Mytilini. The village Skala Eressos is built on a valley floor and surrounded by a stunning amphitheatre of volcanic rock and mountains.

The settlement of Skala Eressos dates back to the 16th century, and was built for protection against the pirates who frequently invaded the bay of Eressos.
Skala Eressos has one of the most beautiful and dramatic beaches in Greece and on the waterfront you can find a line of cafes and restaurants.

A short walk from the edge of town, along the beach and by the forest there is a spring-fed lake full of hundreds of turtles, frogs, fish, a variety of birds and even storks, which nest in a bell tower of the church in the upper village.
