Plaka - Elounda

Neighbouring the town of Elounda just 4 klms away, is the quiet little fishing village of Plaka. Suitable for the visitor who is looking for a quieter resort but at the same time close enough to Elounda and Aghios Nikolaos which are linked by a regular bus service. Plaka has two shingle beaches with crystal clear waters. The Northern Beach is a pebbly beach, protected from the winds, with several tamarisk trees offering natural shade to visitors and has a magnificent view of the Spinalonga peninsula. It is well organised and has access to a wide range of hotels, taverns, restaurants, bars and cafes. The Southern Beach is also a pebbly beach but unlike the northern one, it is not organized and one can find here calmness while swimming in the crystal clear sea. The area around Plaka is stunningly beautiful and is ideal for extensive walks.
