Aghia Pelagia

The beautiful resort of Aghia Pelaghia is located approx. 18 klm west from Heraklion, the capital of the island. It is built in the centre of a picturesque amphitheatric bay and offers unique high standard hotel facilities as well as many small hotels and pensions. The narrow beach is sandy and well protected from the summer winds by its cove, making the sea to be most of the time calm. It is a well organized beach with sunbeds, umbrellas and plenty of water sports available, like water-skiing and wind surfing. There are also more remote beaches in the surroundings which are easily accessible. Around the bay there are many tavernas serving delicious Greek dishes at reasonable prices. Also one can find all kinds of shops to meet their needs such as jewellery and souvenir shops, supermarkets, and internet cafes. There are a few bars and cafes but no big nightclubs.
